- Club awards presented by David
Congress discussed nominations for one big club and one small club for the Student Life Awards hosted by Student Services on May 24, 2019. Congress took many things into account, putting emphasis on club improvement, organization, events, inclusivity of students and how the clubs contributed to Marianopolis student life.
After debate and discussion, Congress voted on the small club they want to award this distinction to:
Marianopolis Green Team (unanimous)
Congress agreed that the Marianopolis Green Team has organized many successful events this year (including the thrift sale, the reusable straws, the tote-bag decorating event, etc.) that greatly contributed to Marianopolis student life and was open to participation from all. They were also very easy to work with and organized in terms of finances.
Congress voted on the big club they want to award this distinction to:
Marianopolis Debate Society (majority)
Congress agreed that the Debate Society participated in more tournaments this year than ever before and really emphasized inclusivity, welcoming everyone to sign up for tournaments and participate in events, no matter their level of expertise.
- Green Committee presented by Aria
Isabela, an executive of the Green Team, asked if Congress would be interesting in having one of their members sit on the Green Committee she is forming, which will include representatives from the Administration, Student Services, Congress and the Green Team.
Congress agreed that next year’s Coordinator of Social Justice should sit on the committee, since it falls under their mandate.
Congress and Trudy shared final messages to conclude the last meeting of the 2018-2019 MSU Congress.
