    I. Call to Order

The Regular Weekly Marianopolis Student Union (MSU) Congress Meeting of February 2, 2018 was convened at 4:20 P.M. by President Ramiz A. Razzak.

    II. Roll Call of Members

The MSU Congress Members who are present at this meeting are: David Cao, Yiwen Chen, Michael Di Giorgio, Elizabeth Hua, Jasmine Kotsiopoulos, Abhinav Pal, Ramiz A. Razzak, Veronica Rodighiero, Jia Rong Shao, Yisen Wang, Linda Zhu.

    III. Guests presented by Ramiz A. Razzak

The guests who are present at this meeting are: Karin Kassabian, a representative from the Marianopolis World Review, and Veronique Champoux, the Student Services Representative.

    IV. Approval of last meeting’s Minutes

The Minutes of the Regular Weekly MSU Congress Meeting of November 24, 2017 were written by Jasmine Kotsiopoulos. These Minutes were approved by Ramiz A. Razzak on the 2nd of February, 2018.

    V. Approval of the Agenda

The Agenda of this day’s meeting has been unanimously approved.

    VI. Unfinished Business and General Orders

            A. Poetry Night PM presented by Linda Z and Elizabeth H

Linda explained that the event went really well and that there were about 20 people who attended.  David’s Tea sponsored the event and there were different resources available. The event began with a sexual consent workshop and then lead to poetry reading.

            B. Mid-Semester Party presented by Veronica Rodighiero

Veronica explained that the Mid-Semester party will take place March 3rd, 2018.  We are looking into venues now, one option is Loft le Quatrieme. She will be bringing in more information next meeting.

    VII. New Business

            A. Dating, Mating, and Relating Fair presented by Elizabeth H and Linda Z

The Sexual Violence Committee and the LGBTQ+ Committee will be joining together to bring a fair to the school, where students will have the chance to discuss relationships and diversity in the Student lounge.  There will be booths set up where students can get information about sexual violence, play games and there will be a Tea Table that Congress will be hosting where students can pick up baked goods and tea. Consent will be one of the major topics being discussed at the fair.  They also hope to have a gift basket that students who enter a raffle could potentially win. The event will take place February 13 during Activity Period.

            B. Valentine’s Day presented by David Cao

David explained that the Latin Club hopes to give out Valentine’s Day cards on Valentine’s Day and asked whether Congress had anything planned as well.  We discussed having a photo booth, where students can take polaroid pictures, $2.00 for 1 polaroid, $3.00 for 2, and also hand out chocolates.

Motion to approve the polaroid photo booth and giving away chocolates on Valentine’s Day – Approved (Unanimous)

            C. Free Food Day presented by Veronica Rodighiero

Veronica asked whether or not Congress wanted to have another free food day.  We discussed giving out free pie on March 14th to celebrate National Pi Day, free pizza on March 22nd, and free donuts on March 29th .

Motion to approve the free food days -Approved (Unanimous)

            D. Club Planning Session presented by Veronique Champoux

Club Planning Session is next Tuesday.

            E. Intramurals presented by Veronique Champoux

Veronique explained that registration for basketball and soccer intramurals will begin soon and she hopes to have a league for 6 weeks.  The intramurals may count for ponderation if there are enough people to form a league.
