I. Call to Order
The Regular Weekly Marianopolis Student Union (MSU) Congress Meeting of November 27, 2017, was convened at 4:20 P.M. by President Ramiz A. Razzak.
II. Roll Call of Members
The MSU Congress Members who are present at this meeting are: David Cao, Yiwen Chen, Neil Cordingley, Meghan Couture, Michael Di Giorgio, Elizabeth Hua, Ramiz A. Razzak, Veronica Rodighiero, Yisen Wang, Linda Zhu
III. Guests presented by Ramiz A. Razzak
The guests who are present at this meeting are: Ousmane Diagne, a representative from the Marianopolis World Review, and Trudy Ste-Croix, the Student Services Representative.
IV. Approval of last meeting’s Minutes
The Minutes of the Regular Weekly MSU Congress Meeting of November 10, 2017 were written by Yi Sen Wang. These Minutes were approved by Ramiz A. Razzak on the 24th of November, 2017.
V. Approval of the Agenda
The Agenda of this day’s meeting has been unanimously approved.
VI. Unfinished Business and General Orders
A. Drawstring Bags presented by Neil Cordingley
Neil explained that the drawstring bags have arrived.
B. College Strategic Plan
The Strategic Plan is released every 5 years to provide more encompassing goals. The changes we would implement now would be fixed by 2020. Transformative education (where students are most affected) wants to broaden the perspective between inside the school and outside the school. Cultural exchange would also be included in the new Strategic Plan and classroom design would be one of the key components.
C. Zen Day presented by Trudy Ste-Croix
Trudy explained that Student Services can provide $200.00 for the massages. Zen Day includes the massages and therapy dogs and costs a total of $827.82. The main idea of Zen Day is to allow students to destress.
D. Suit Up Day presented by Elizabeth Hua
Elizabeth explained that she will be advertising more at the school rather than just Facebook for future Suit Up days. Each of the Congress members are asked to vote on who they believe were the best dressed for Suit Up Day.
E. Cultural Fashion Show/Day presented by Yiwen Chen
Yiwen explained that there was not as much participation at the show as she thought there would be. She believes that she could have added more cosplay elements to allow for more people to dress up. The show went very well and the cotton candy drew a lot of attention.
VII. New Business
A. Intercollegiate Cancer Fundraiser presented by Meghan Couture
Meghan explained that she was approached by Marianopolis students who are hosting an event with students shaving their heads for cancer foundation. The Charities and Volunteering Committee will be helping them and she asks if Congress can advertise the event. Congress will be endorsing this event.
B. David’s Tea presented by Meghan Couture
Meghan explained that they gave out many cups of David’s Tea and the event went really well.
C. Party Updates presented by Veronica Rodighiero
Due to any conflicts happening with the planning of the party, the venue is cancelled and the owners of the venue went against their contract. Veronica is in the process of finding a new venue and setting a new date for the party.
VIII. Varia
A. Liability Insurance presented by Ramiz A. Razzak
Ramiz explained that Congress has liability insurance.
