  1. Unfinished Business and General Orders

  1. Updates
    •  Changes to agenda template in #agendas-minutes

Thomas explains the changes he made to the agenda template. In summary, “Updates” are now 0 min of speaking time and will just be a list of all updates made on Slack between meetings. He hopes this will serve as a way to centralize information, because a message is tough to find on Slack if someone forgets which channel it was in. Having a list of updates will also be handy to track progress on projects and can be used as a list of things to read before the meeting. The other change is to the “Reminders” section. It is now a separate section from “Updates.” A reminder should take 1-2 minutes and have no discussion afterwards.

  1. Reminders
    • Individual calls update presented by Laurence

Laurence had a few calls in the past weeks with Congress members. He is happy that everyone is doing well and proposes that Congress take the time to determine their mutual goals for Block 4.

  • Cultural Movie Night presented by Yu Zheng

Yu Zheng reminds Congress that Black Queensmen is streaming at 8 PM on Netflix Party.

  • Mystery Box presented by Tristan

Tristan received a mystery box 2 months ago from the company that Congress used for the Welcome Back Event, since his house was the address that Congress had entered. The box contained a pamphlet filled with different gifts that are customizable with the MSU logo.

  • Movie Nights presented by Tristan

Tristan announces that there will be a weekly movie night on Netflix Party. He expects all Congress members to attend.

  • Dawson x Mariano presented by Pratham

Pratham had a call yesterday with Dawson representatives to polish the details about the pumpkin carving contest. The project is running and the deadline to submit pictures is November 1st.

  1. New Business
    • Congress Presence at Open House presented by Thomas

A few meetings ago, Trudy had proposed that Congress has a presence at the Open House, a decision that was unanimously approved. Thomas asks Trudy if she has any more information regarding the Open House, and she says that it has been postponed. She will inform Congress as soon as she hears more news.

  • Facebook Group Headers presented by Maria (4 mins)

On Slack, Maria brought up that she wants to change the Facebook group header to a monthly calendar. Tristan proposes a scrapbook style, but Maria will send a picture of what she had pictured on Slack.

  • The Chill – C.A.R.E presented by Tristan/Trudy

Tristan and Trudy decided not to reach out to the Study Sheeps club for the moment. Student Services are working on the virtual lounge and are ready to test it out. Trudy asks Congress members to help her test it out during the Activity Period Tuesday Oct 27.

  • Spotify Playlists presented by Yu Zheng

Yu Zheng wants to start creating her cultural Spotify playlists, but is wondering whether or not there will be a Congress Spotify / Apple Music account. Mau says that it is impossible for a student discount with Spotify but likely with Apple Music, However, she reached out to Apple 2 weeks ago but still has not received an answer. In the meanwhile, Thomas says that he will create an Apple and Spotify account for Congress so that they can start creating their playlists. Emanuel says that the worst case scenario of allocating $10 a month for Apple Music is still reasonable.

  • Mental Health presented by Tristan

Tristan announces that other CEGEPS will dedicate 1 week in November to mental health. Trudy had her CASAP meeting and confirms that Vanier and Champlain are doing different activities in the early weeks of November for mental health. She says that there is an intercollegiate spoken word event happening November 19th. Finally, Tristan hopes to organize his semestrial Poetry Night during this mental health week.

  1. Varia
    • Google Drive access presented by Laurence

.Laurence asks if everyone has access to the Congress google drive. Everyone does except Emanuel. Laurence then asks if everyone has access to the MSU email, and everyone does. Finally, Laurence ensures that Thomas and himself have access to the team MSU email.

  • Congress IG Takeovers presented by Laurence

Congress discussed this idea a few weeks ago, but Tristan had wanted to do the Congress Takeovers before the winter elections. Misha wants to do them as soon as possible so Congress will continue this discussion on Slack.

  • Completing Tasks by Thomas

Thomas reminds Congress members to check off their tasks on Teams once they’re completed.
