Linda’s final list of members for the Social Justice Committee includes herself, Neil Cordingley, Elizabeth Hua, Ousmane Diagne, Amy Wang, Behraz Rezaie, Marissa Hatzigeorgiou. These members were included in the list from the previous meeting and were approved unanimously.
B. Video Copyright presented by Yi Sen Wang, Elizabeth Hua, and Ramiz A. Razzak
Ramiz has looked in the Fair Use Law and he explained that because we’re in an academic related organization, the Copyright Act does not apply to use, meaning that we should technically be able to use the video because copyright does not affect us. Elizabeth will continue looking in the Fair Use Law to confirm that we are legally allowed to use the video on our website.
C. Gym Bags Quote presented by Neil Cordingley
Neil presented the price for the gym bags which including taxes and shipping, costs a total of $1,557 for 80 bags from Forum Print. The unit price starts at $1.25 per bag but goes down as you increase the number of bags. Ramiz mentioned that the price that he received from another company was much more expensive and encouraged Neil to buy the bags from Forum Print. Neil will bring in the samples for the bags on Monday for everyone to review before voting.
VII. New Business
A. Sexual Violence Committee presented by Kristen Whitelaw
The government is coming out with a new law that mandates all academic institutions to have a policy for sexual violence. A committee is in the process of being made at Marianopolis and Kristen wanted to know if any Congress members or non-Congress students were interested in being a part of the committee. She proposed Michael Di Giorgio, as his committee, Student Advocacy, falls into the same line of work. Linda explained that her committee, Social Justice, deals with the same sort of issues and is interested in being a part of the committee as well.
A. Costco Membership presented by Neil Cordingley
Neil spoke with Costco on the phone earlier today and they explained that the Costco Membership Business card would need to be under one person’s name and each additional card would need to be under that person’s name. This would not be helpful to the different clubs we wanted to give the cards too as we hoped to put the cards under each individual name of the executive of the club.
B. Registrat Entrepris presented by Ramiz A. Razzak
Ramiz explained that all of the members of Congress are to be made administrators and will be allowed to make administrator votes. He will be asking for more information from the group to set everything up.
