           A. Free Halloween Candy PM presented by Linda Zhu

Linda spent $147.00 on candy and decorations for Halloween.  The candy was given out for free and she was able to give out all of the candy.

           B. Halloween Fundraiser PM presented by Meghan Couture

Meghan spent $40.00 for all of the cotton candy and the fundraiser for the Montreal Children’s Hospital went really well.  There was a bake sale taking place at the same time as Meghan’s fundraiser and the executives approached Meghan and asked for compensation because they believe she had taken away profit from their bake sale.  She explained that she would speak to us before providing any compensation and based on the fact that her fundraiser and the bake sale were selling two different things, there is no requirement to provide compensation especially due to the fact that this was a fundraiser.

           C. Student Insurance presented by Jia Rong Shao

Ramiz and Jia, in their campaign last year, explained that they would look into the addition of student insurance to Marianopolis.  This would be composed of eye care and dental care, in the same way that we have travel and medical insurance at the school.  We would be operating on a reimbursement basis where any student who is interested in having insurance for dental and/or eye care, would be subsidized for a personal premium of their choice.  They would need to provide a receipt for proof and then the request would be processed.  Abhinav will be looking into how big of a budget we can set aside for the student insurance.  Yi Sen will be creating the request form on the MSU website for students.

           D. COAC Business presented by David Cao

David brought up the intercollegiate party idea that was mentioned at the last COAC meeting.  They are not yet sure when the party will take place, but we are pushing for it to be at the beginning of next semester to prevent any conflicts between Marianopolis’ party and the intercollegiate party.  David was advised to only offer to pay a proportionate value to the number of students at Marianopolis compared to the other Cegeps’ numbers.

           E. Accounting presented by Abhinav Pal

Abhinav scheduled a meeting with Angela Kakridonis, Michael’s mother, for next Thursday during Activity Period and they will be looking at the books together and he will make sure to print out all of the bank statements beforehand.

           F. Update on Open House presented by Trudy Ste-Croix

Congress members will be helping out at Open House this Sunday.  We will be meeting in the auditorium at 10:45 A.M. dressed appropriately and with their nametags that will be provided.  Our booth is situated in the alcove in front of Wayne’s.

           G. Congress at Open House presented by Jia Rong Shao

We will be going over everyone’s jobs the day of Open House.

    VII. New Business

           A. Suit Up Day presented by Elizabeth Hua

Elizabeth explained that she will be making a list of potential gift card options.  The winners will be based on the best photo chosen by Congress and the best photo chosen by the student body.  The Suit Up Day will take place on November 21, 2017.

           B. Remembrance Day presented by Linda Zhu

Congress should make a post on the Facebook page promoting different events going on for Remembrance Day, hosted by different clubs at Marianopolis.

           C. Sexual Violence Task Force presented by Linda Zhu and Michael Di Giorgio

Michael explained that they are looking for a specific Congress initiative against sexual violence.  They encouraged the rest of Congress to brainstorm ideas and asks that everyone bring in their ideas for next meeting.

    VIII. Varia

           A. Free Food presented by Veronica Rodighiero

Veronica suggested selling free hot chocolate during the month of November and she has a connection with La Diperie, who can supply hot chocolate that we can sell.  For 800 cups, we could spend $500.00.  We could also use the percolators available at the school and sell hot chocolate in a more inexpensive way.  Veronica will continue to negotiate the price with the owner of La Diperie.

           B. Suggestion Box presented by Neil Cordingley

Neil explained that we should have a box outside of Congress where people can write suggestions and ideas that Congress could implement in the school.  We will also have a system where students can write suggestions online.  Neil’s dad will be constructing the box being used

           C. Party Update presented by Veronica Rodighiero

Veronica explained that she has two venues in mind for the end of semester party.  We will be expecting about 250 people and will definitely be looking into a bigger venue to fit the number of people, which will depend on attendance.  Tickets will be sold online.
